Our aim is to create sustainable businesses, which, in our world, means businesses that are both economically sustainable and gastronomically sustainable.

LOCA Gruppen’s mission is to create businesses where extraordinary culinary experiences go hand in hand with a sustainable approach to food, people, and the environment.

For us, sustainability is not just about where the carrots are grown – it also encompasses the working conditions of our chefs and servers. We want the catering and restaurant industry to be a place where people want to be – even when they are over 30 years old and have children.

THE SUSTAINABLE MEAL

In every aspect of our business, we are driven by the belief that we can indulge in a healthier planet. Eating in an environmentally friendly way should rhyme with extraordinary taste experiences; otherwise, we have not succeeded in our mission.

In recent years, it has become evident that our food choices can transform the world. We know that we must take care of the planet and reduce CO2 emissions; otherwise, the future looks bleak for our children and grandchildren. Changes in our eating habits and food production can truly alter the CO2 balance in a positive direction. Thus, our daily food choices are more crucial than ever before.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations describes the sustainable meal as a harmonious balance between four different factors:

WE BACK OUR WORDS WITH ACTION

No one can do everything, but everyone can do something. Therefore, in 2021, based on a series of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, we crafted a ‘Manifesto’ that outlines the course of our sustainability approach and our business.

It is estimated that the food industry collectively accounts for approximately one-fourth of global CO2 emissions, and we believe that everyone working with food has a responsibility to examine where they can make a difference. However, it is not enough to merely state this. For a long time, we have sought clarity on how sustainable our business truly is concerning people and the environment. Hence, in March 2022, we produced our first ‘Sustainability Report,’ which provides tangible figures, facts, and goals behind the statements we make.

WE BELIEVE IN POSITIVE CHANGES

We understand that the path toward more sustainability in gastronomy is paved with constant dilemmas and compromises. Consequently, we also acknowledge that our journey and approach will never be perfect. Nevertheless, it is our conviction that with integrity, delectable flavors, and a passion for food, we can contribute to some of the positive changes that both the industry and the world need.

Our Manifesto is not merely a set of values that we uphold ourselves. It is also an expression of the considerations we have when entering into relationships with partners, collaborations, customers, employees, and suppliers.
